How many years has each .eth name actually been locked in for, across its full lifecycle?

What this tells you:

Premium-tier conviction - do 3/4 character holders sit in deeper commitment bins than long-name holders?
1-year default? - at renewal time, what fraction renew for 1-year vs commit to multiple years
Distribution shape - is commitment concentrated in a few high-conviction holders (heavy P99/max), or spread evenly (P50 close to mean)?

Distribution of total committed years per label

For each length bucket, what fraction of labels accumulated each amount of total commitment - counting both the initial registration term and every renewal extension. A name registered for 10 years up front and a name registered for 1 year then renewed 9 times for 1 year each both land in the "10+" bucket.

Per-bucket commitment stats

Mean is sensitive to a few mega renewers. P50 (median) is the more honest "typical holder" number - if mean is much higher than P50, commitment is concentrated in the tail.

What duration did people pick when they registered a new name? 1-year is often chosend by default; longer up-front commitments cluster in specific eras.

Renewal duration picks over time

What duration did people pick when they renewed? Reveals shifts in renewal behaviour.

Methodology

Per-event duration. For an initial registration: expiry timestamp minus the registration's block timestamp - the term length the registrant paid for up front. For a renewal: the new expiry timestamp minus the prior expiry timestamp for that same label - how much the renewal extended things by.
Per-label total committed years = sum of all the label's registration and renewal durations. A 10-year up-front registration with no renewals contributes 10 years (just the initial term); a 1-year registration with 5 one-year renewals contributes 6 years.
If a name lapses and someone else re-registers it, each registration's term is counted independently. The lapse gap between the old expiry and the new registration is excluded - it doesn't count toward anyone's commitment.
Monthly charts use coarser duration bins (<1y, 1y, 1-3y, 3-5y, 5y+) than the snapshot pick distribution above (which uses 1y / 2y / 3-5y / 5-10y / 10y+) — the coarser bins are easier to scan over many months. Both views agree on what counts as a 1-year pick (within 0.05y of exactly 1 year).
